Nissan's Armada Gets a Rugged Makeover for 2025

Nissan has taken the wraps off its completely redesigned 2025 Armada full-size SUV, introducing a host of new features and capabilities that promise to elevate the driving experience both on and off the road. The new model lineup includes the debut of the rugged PRO-4X grade, offering enhanced off-road prowess for adventure seekers.

The 2025 Armada boasts a powerful new twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 engine, delivering 425 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. This represents a significant increase of 25 horsepower and 103 lb-ft over the outgoing V8 model. The new powerplant is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, improving both acceleration and fuel efficiency.

Off-road enthusiasts will appreciate the PRO-4X grade's impressive capabilities. With a raised suspension offering 9.6 inches of ground clearance and a 33.9-inch approach angle, the PRO-4X is ready to tackle challenging terrain. It comes equipped with all-terrain tires, underbody skid plates, and an electronic locking differential. The Intelligent 4WD system features eight selectable driving modes tailored for various conditions.

Technology takes centre stage in the new Armada, with standard Google built-in and dual 14.3-inch infotainment displays on higher trims. The SUV also introduces innovative camera technologies like Invisible Hood View and 3D Around View, enhancing visibility and obstacle detection. For added convenience on long trips, the Platinum Reserve Captain's Chairs grade offers ProPILOT Assist 2.1, enabling hands-free highway driving in supported areas.

Inside, the Armada offers increased space and comfort. Front-row legroom has been expanded by 4.2 inches, while third-row passengers enjoy an impressive 5.7 inches of additional legroom. Cargo capacity has also been improved across all seating configurations.

The exterior design of the 2025 Armada features a bold, adventure-ready aesthetic with higher ground clearance and strong proportions. Available in five grades - SL, PRO-4X, Platinum, Platinum Reserve, and Platinum Reserve Captain's Chairs - the new Armada offers a range of options to suit various preferences and needs.

Nissan has maintained the Armada's impressive 8,500-pound towing capacity, while adding new features like Trailer Blind Spot Monitoring to enhance safety when hauling. The SUV's frame has been strengthened, with 25% greater torsional rigidity and 57% increased lateral stiffness compared to the previous model.

The 2025 Nissan Armada is scheduled to hit the market in late 2024.
