The 2027 Nissan Kicks Gains a Rugged Rock Creek Grade for Unpaved Adventures
August 19 2026,
Gravel side roads, farm access lanes, and cottage trails are part of daily driving across Saskatchewan, even for shoppers who mostly stick to city streets. The 2027 Nissan Kicks answers that reality with a new grade built specifically for it.
The Rock Creek doesn’t replace anything in the Kicks lineup, and it isn’t a full redesign of the small SUV. It’s a new, rugged option that sits alongside the existing grades, adding hardware and styling meant for the driver who wants a smaller SUV that still feels capable once the pavement ends.
What’s New on the 2027 Kicks
Rock Creek is the headline addition for 2027, based on the Kicks SV and built around standard all-wheel drive. That’s a shift from the front-drive-first character Kicks has had in the city, toward a setup that treats loose or unpaved surfaces as part of the daily routine rather than an exception.
Two features carry that shift: an exclusive Off-Road drive mode and Hill Descent Control. The Off-Road mode allows more wheel slip so the Kicks can keep moving forward on gravel, sand, or snow instead of cutting power at the first sign of a slipping tire. Hill Descent Control manages speed automatically on loose downhill grades, so the driver isn’t riding the brake the whole way down.
The 2027 Kicks Lineup: S, SV, Rock Creek and SR
Every 2027 Kicks grade shares the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, producing 141 hp and 140 lb-ft of torque through an Xtronic continuously variable transmission. A 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard across the lineup, and a Bose 10-speaker Personal Plus system is available.
Where the grades separate is drivetrain and equipment.

Rock Creek is the only grade where all-wheel drive isn’t a choice, it’s the only way the trim is built.
Rugged Looks and Everyday Comfort
Rock Creek separates itself visually with 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 215/60R17 all-season tires, a Rock Creek-exclusive upper grille, and gloss black mirrors, fascias and trim. Amber daytime running lights and accent lighting round out a look meant to read as tougher than the standard Kicks the moment it’s parked.
- Roof rails with cross bars rated to carry 75 kg (165 lb (75 kg)), enough for a rooftop box, skis or a kayak
- Rock Creek Leatherette with Ballistic Nylon seating and accent stitching
- Heated front seats and a TailorFit-wrapped, heated steering wheel
- Rock Creek-branded floor mats and interior LED lighting
Inside, the cabin adds Automatic Temperature Control, a wireless charging pad, and Nissan Intelligent Key with walk-away lock and approach unlock, features already standard on the SV it’s built from. Ground clearance sits at 214.2 mm, with an 18-degree approach angle and 26.7-degree departure angle, numbers that matter when a driveway turns to washboard gravel.
Space for Gear, Groceries and the Commute
Rock Creek’s all-wheel-drive hardware does cost some room. Cargo volume behind the rear seats measures 676.8 L, and 1,418.7 L with the second row folded, both a step down from what the front-drive Kicks grades offer with the same seats.
For most weekend loads, that difference won’t be the deciding factor. It’s still enough for a grocery run, a couple of duffel bags, or a folded stroller, and the second row folds 60/40 when a longer item needs the extra length. The tradeoff is real, but it’s a small one against the traction gained.
Safety Coverage and Extra Visibility on Rock Creek
Every 2027 Kicks grade, including Rock Creek, comes standard with Nissan Safety Shield 360: Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist, and Predictive Forward Collision Warning.
Rock Creek adds to that base. It picks up HD Intelligent Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection and Rear Automatic Braking, features that help in tight parking lots as much as they do backing out of a trailhead. Rock Creek doesn’t carry SR’s full ProPILOT Assist suite, so shoppers who want that added highway assistance should look to SR instead.
Is Rock Creek the Right Grade for You?
Rock Creek fits the buyer who wants a smaller SUV with a tougher look and genuine confidence on unpaved roads, someone splitting time between city errands and weekend trips off the main highway. Standard all-wheel drive and the Off-Road mode make that trade-off worthwhile.
A shopper who never leaves paved roads and wants the most cargo room or the lowest step-in price may be better served by the S or SV. Someone who wants the deepest available tech, including ProPILOT Assist and the 12.3-inch digital dashboard, should look at SR instead. Rock Creek is a specific answer to a specific kind of driving, not a replacement for the rest of the lineup.
